Over the last century, five generations of bold and passionate entrepreneurs have crafted spirits in the ancient family distillery, founded by Emile Perrier the famous fruit-liquor maker. The last ones in line are even somewhat rebellious. In the nineteen eighties Jean-Michel Naud, a trained oenologist and passionate explorer of wines and spirits, the son-in-law of Robert Perrier, rediscovered the distillery. Today, with his son, Pierre, they have decided to reignite the flames under the copper pot stills to create distinguished Cognacs, which can be proud of their origins. They are also offering a range of unconventional spirits for the region, aimed at connoisseurs.
Guarded behind thick walls, below roof tiles blackened by the Angel’s Share, the « Paradis » shelters the oldest qualities of the family’s reserve. The mysterious alchemy between the alcohol, the air and the wood, happens during a long aging process in French oak casks, carefully selected for the finesse of their tannins.

TASTING NOTES
The gentle climate and the favorable exposition of the vineyards on the Charentais hillsides are ideal conditions to extract the whole potential from these grape varieties. Once produced, the wines, still on fine lees, undergo a double distillation in traditional small copper pot stills on open fires. This process brings aromatic richness and roundness to the NAUD Family Cognacs. When finally placed to mature in French oak casks, the eau-de-vie ages slowly, under the benevolence of the Cellar Master who decides of their final blending.

TASTING NOTES
Colour: Amber
Nose: Smooth and rich, dominated by fragrances of candied orange, prune, spices (cinnamon, cumin) and leather.
Palate: Supple and fruit, moving onto notes of orange and peach, with a touch of oak on the finish.
Jean-Michel NAUD believes that the best eau-de-vie is produced by distilling wines which have been elaborated with precision. With his son Pierre, they select the grapes at optimum maturity, from some of the most prestigious crus of the appellation area. Ugni-Blanc, mainly cultivated on clay and limestone soils, is known to mature slowly and to convey finesse to the eau-de-vie. Colombard, which ripens earlier, is most commonly cultivated on poor soils and offers subtle fruity and floral notes to the cognac.
