Rum Nation was created by (our founding father), Fabio Rossi.

He sought out select casks of rum from around the world on his numerous travels and bottled the very first Rum Nation bottles back in 1999. The variety of the different casks he chose and the huge difference in geographical styles required a unique approach to each style of rum – joined under one brand.

JAMAICA WHITE POT STILL

57% Alc./Vol.

Rum Nation Jamaica Pot Still is a flavourful, spicy and very fruity 100%-pot still rum from a historical distillery in St. Catherine, Jamaica. Not aged in oak, and bottled at 57% to preserve its pure character and vibrant intensity while retaining the typical luscious smoothness and sturdier body of pot still distillation. A spicy, estery and aromatic rum for adding character and flavour to cocktails… but also a mind-blowing experience for connoisseurs, who are bold enough to give it a try neat or with a drop of water, to fully enjoy the mind-boggling power of heavy jamaican rum.

Tasting notes: Intense, explosive, but not sharp. Like the nose, but sweeter. Notes of pepper, green olives, and then it turns vegetal: aromatic herbs, palm leaves, freshly sawed wood.

Guatemala Gran Reserva

40% Alc./Vol.

A high quality rum from molasses, fermented and distilled in a column still at Destiladora del Alcoholes y Rones, S.A. Tululà. Once distilled, the rum is transported to North East Guatemala in ex-bourbon white oak barrels, in which it undergoes maturation at 185 meters above sea level for at least 4 years in the Hondo river region. This choice of place, with high humidity, allows a very fast and intense maturation, because Rio Hondo is one of the warmest areas of Guatemala, with an almost tropical climate. The result is one of the lightest rums in our collection, in a full Latin style with its typical sweetness and fragrant notes of vanilla and raisins, but with a medium body and moderate sugariness.

Tasting notes: Easy, velvety, warm. Sweet but not syrupy, with notes of vanilla, cola, raisins. Crème brûlée, and a final herbal touch like vermouth, with a hint of orange rind, anise and liquorice.

Demerara 14

40% Alc./Vol.

Rum Nation Demerara N° 14 is born from sugar cane molasses in British Guyana, as a skilled blend of various vintages from pot stills (to give it full bodied richness) and column stills (for a lighter backbone of crisp drinkability).

Main aging is in ex-Bourbon American oak barrels for a creamy sweetness, then a 12 months period into fresh sherry butts (Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso) enhances its spicy character. A small percentage of very old Enmore rum is finally added to the blend for further complexity and “dark” character.

Aging method: ex. Bourbon OLOROSO + PEDRO XIMENEZ

Tasting notes: Viscous sugarcane molasses, dark chocolate, coffee, dried raisins, and a slightly toasted and bitter background which hints at herbal notes (black tea and gentian root). Dark and sweet at the same time.

Panama 10 years

Made by the most renowned distillery in Panama, according to the traditional recipe, this is a particularly fresh and light rum, in the typically easy-going Latin style. Column still distillation of the sweetest molasses and maturation in bourbon casks account for a particularly fragrant and agreeable aroma, with notes of sun-dried raisins and chocolate. Its lightness, delicate sweetness, clean taste and softness, makes it perfect not only for use in traditional cocktails, but also for drinking straight or with the addition of ice.

Tasting notes: Light bodied but slightly unctuous. The sugarcane sweetness dominates without ever being cloying. Acacia honey, sun-dried raisins, milk chocolate. A hint of orange and apricot.

Peruano 8 years

In the northern Peruvian region of Lambayeque, a classic Spanish-style rum is still made exactly like when the distillery was founded in the first half of the 20th century. Molasses from ripe sugar cane grown in extremely fertile soils and climate, ancient Scottish column stills, a solera-like aging in various kinds of barrels, and a timeless blending recipe. A rum that is sweet, syrupy, with notes of figs and dates, but which retains freshness and a crisp and vibrant – but lightweight – character thanks to its young age. Wonderful in cocktails or, even better, with a few ice cubes.

Tasting notes: Rich and intense, yet never sharp. The kind of full bodied intensity which coats the tongue and caresses it. Raisins, figs, dates, but the sweetness is matched by a hint of spiciness: cinnamon, pepper, and pleasant oak tannins.

Barbados 8 years

A sweeter and fruitier release of our famous Barbados rum, aged for 8 years in a tropical climate. While still light bodied, it has a chewy and velvety mouthfeel and a rich roundness that makes it particularly suitable for an after-dinner or for pairing a fine cigar. Honeyed, flowery and fragrant, it has a wonderful bouquet of blood oranges, peaches, apricots, dates, bananas and raisins… with a light touch of the unmistakeable earthiness of sugar cane, and only a moderate hint of spiciness.

Tasting notes: Delicate but very fruity. The ripe oranges, peaches and apricots already found at the nose are followed by bananas, dates, raisins and the unmistakeable note of cane sugar, with its earthy and vegetal undertones. Herbal liqueur.

Jamaica 5 years

This award-winning pot still rum from St. Catherine, Jamaica, was matured in the Caribbean and then refined for 15 to 18 months in second fill Oloroso barrels, plus a small percentage of Pedro Ximenez casks. The skillful blending of casks marries the brash vitality and intensely funky aromas of young Jamaican rum, with the winey, fruity and juicier complexity of sherry aging. A multifaceted and robust rum, full of power but also subtlety.

Tasting notes: Identical to the nose, but also with notes of wood resin, pine needles, black pepper, and a hint of flour. There is a background sweetness, but the overall impression is dry and spicy. Raisins, old wood.

Guatemala XO

For the 20th anniversary of Rum Nation, we have handpicked some of the best and sweetest casks of this precious rum from Guatemala. Made from sugar cane molasses and distilled in a column still, it is aged for a period of at least 4 years in ex-bourbon white oak barrels in the tropical climate of the Hondo river region. The secret of its richness is a second maturation for 16 months in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks in our cool Italian location. This enhancse the rums winey and fruity notes and its natural sweetness of fragrant vanilla and raisins, adding an extra layer of complexity. Sweet and luscious, honeyed and nutty. A limited edition in an elegant decanter to celebrate 20 years of rum discoveries all around the world.

Panama 18 years

A new captivating packaging and a precious decanter, colourful and lively, for the new and improved release of our sweet and soft Panama rum aged for 18 years. The richness of sugar cane and the finesse of Spanish style distillation give life to a light-bodied rum with a great aromatic complexity, caressing and easy to drink, rich on tropical fruits, dates and chocolate. A slightly winey touch and a hint of orange peel give fragrance and freshness to the sweetness of the rum.

Its blending recipe, which includes a large percentage of even older rums to give character and complexity, is the pinnacle of decades of tradition and experimentation- Elegance, thick sweetness and dried fruits…The perfect deluxe after-dinner sipping rum.

The result is a bright and delicious liqueur mainly based on an infusion of Italian orange rinds, carefully prepared with a base of sweet and velvety Central American rum. Our special recipe adds various proportions of other citrus fruits essences (red orange, lemon and tangerine), a touch of genuine vanilla and a few drops of our secret aromas.
